Chronos Collector: Temporal Price Tracker

A web application that scrapes e-commerce sites for historical pricing data of specific products, presenting it in a visual timeline inspired by the non-linear narrative of Memento.

Inspired by the 'E-Commerce Pricing' scraper, the core functionality involves building a robust web scraper to collect historical price data for user-selected products from various online retailers. This data will then be stored in a database. The 'Hyperion' novel influence comes in the way the data is presented. Instead of a chronological feed, the 'Chronos Collector' will offer a 'non-linear narrative' of a product's price fluctuations. Users can select a product and view its price history as a series of 'memory fragments' or 'time capsules,' potentially jumping between different points in time based on user interaction or randomly, mirroring the fragmented storytelling of 'Memento'. This creates a unique and engaging way to understand price trends. The niche aspect lies in the novel presentation of data; most price trackers are strictly chronological. This project would be low-cost, relying on free scraping libraries (like BeautifulSoup or Scrapy) and a free/low-cost hosting solution (like Heroku or Vercel). Earning potential is high through affiliate marketing (linking to products via affiliate programs), premium features (e.g., more detailed analytics, personalized alerts for specific price drops), or even selling aggregated, anonymized price trend data to small businesses. The web development aspect will focus on a clean, intuitive user interface for product selection and data visualization, with a backend to handle scraping and data management.
